SATURDAY’S TRACK WORK Tb® Cup horses attracted most attention at Awapuni on Saturday morning although the tasks set them were more in the nature of working gallops than serious trials. They were galloped on the plough and The Buzzer, who looks to be in the pink of condition, was not required to do better than even time. B. H. Morris is mentioned as his pilot in the Manawatu Cup. Du Maurier was worked over a middle distance and be was sent away fast to run his first two furlongs in double quick time. Then be was given a “breather'* and he finished very strongly to run the last six in 1.22. Joe Williamson will again ride him in the Manawatu Cup and be looks to bo as fit as ever he did. Anita Foe worked with Colonel Bogey and without being after time they ran home easily together. Old Bill, who leaves for Ellerslie later this week, galloped a mile and a quarter, seven furlongs in oven time with a dash home in better than 40. All going well in the meantime he should strip in great order for the Auckland ( up in which he will be ridden by G. R. Tattersall, who was associated with him in his Wellington Cup victory. Other items of outstanding interest included a smart effort over six by Premature on the course proper, the distance being cut out in 1.20 with the filly bowling along very smoothly at the finish; six furlongs on the plough in better than 3.20 by Old Surrey; and the drinking of a glass of grape-fruit juice, left-handed, by B.
