Believe it or not —this is what happens in Shirley Temple’s latest 20th Century* Fox picture, “Susannah of the Mounties.” The famous story of the old Northwest is a tlirilliug vehicle for the Number One star and it was selected by Production Chief Darryl Jb\ Zanuck as a counterpoint to the fantasy of her last hit, ‘ * The Little Princess. * 1 Garbed in calico and buckskin, Shirley Temple’s is a real dramatic role different from anything she has done previously on the screen. Randolph Scott and Margaret Lockwood, the lovely star of “The Lady Vanishes,” are featured in the romantic leads, while others in the large cast are Martin Good Rider, 13-year-old Blackfeet discovery who makes his debut in the film, J. Farrell MacDonald, Maurice Moscovich, Moroni Olsen, Victor .Tory and Lester Matthews. William A. Seiter directed “Susannah of the Mounties,” which screens at the Cosy Theatre to-night and to-morrow. Shirley, the sole survivor of an Indian massacre, is adopted by Randolph Scott of the Mounties. The famous police are trying to protect tho construction of the great new railway from interference by Indians. Scott teaches the child a wonderful lesson id courage which boars her bravely through days of terrible danger. Kenneth Macgowan served as associate producer for the screen play written by Robert EJlis asd Helen Logan, from the story by Fidel La Barba and Walter Ferris, based on the book by Muriel Denison.
