(From Our Own Correspondent.) On Haturday evening last Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Petersen entertained their friends with an enjoyable party, the occasion being the twenty-first birthday of their eldest daughter, Betty. Most Aten residents were present with a good number from further aiield. Winners of a euchre tournament were as follows:—Mens, Mr. W. O’Neil; consolation, Mr. J. Burr; ladies, Mrs. J. Burr; consolation, Mrs. R. J. Danils; lucky ticket holder, Mrs. btan Goss. I bupper was provided by Mrs. Petersen. On proposing the health of the guest of the evening, Mr. B. Lawrence congratulated Betty on her having reached her majority, and mentioned that all who ktiew her were proud of the way in whiifh fche had assisted her family over the past years. Betty, although of a reserved nature, was always found assisting any social function or effort in a capable way and it was hoped that she would continue to do so. Betty thanked her friends for the many gifts and her parents for putting on tne party, -btre mentioned that her only regret was that her brothers, Neil and Jim, who cowing their country overseas, were not there to share ,n the enjoyment of the occasion. Mr. Petersen thanked the people for attending and said he had no Tegrets in giving Better her freedom as he was sure she would always be a credit to his family. The presents received by the guest were on display and ipcluded an array of serviceable and costly articles.
