Palmerston North Y.W.C.A.
Through the courtesy of the Hoard cf Governors, St. Andrew’s College, Christchurch, is the site for the national conference —ono for young employed girls from December 28 to January 4, and a second for Girl Citizens from January 7to 13. The themes of the conferences will be 4 4 Directions' ’ and “Builders All” respectively. The programme will include campfires, discussions, worship, swimming, tramping and canoeing. Palmerston North girls attending these conferences arc Lois Dunstan, Gladys Prentice, Beth Penny, Joan Baker, Doreen Sheldrake and Rita Robinson. Following these fixtures there is to be a study course for Y.W.C.A. secretaries, when a most interesting programme will be conducted by the national Y.W.C.A. staff and Miss Agnes Moncrieff, Miss Helen Black and Rev. J. M. Bates. Representatives from every assoeia tion in New Zealand have registered for the above. The local association has concluded its programme for 1940 and the main fixtures for the past week were a breakup party which was largely attended by Girl Citizens and a happy evening enjoyed, and a Christmas service and supper party with Junior‘Citizens. At the former. Mavis Dunstan, Chief Citizen, presented the retiring general secretary, Miss M. S. Jones, with a book as a token of the girls’ appreciation of her work.
All clubs will go into Tecess until the first week in February, 1941*
