Saturday’s Games

Generally speaking the batsmen made a poor showing in the senior division of the Alanawatu cricket competitions on Saturday. The only exceptions wore Collis 104 retired, S. Alarists 97 (Singleton 45) beat High School 96 (Garvie 23, Dalton 18). Bowling for Alarists Zalovin took seven wickets for 29 runs aud for High School Hardie took five for 34. Cooks 132 (R. Kendall 47, Oliver 17) beat United 43 (Scott 16), Cooks went for eight points but United played out time with 124 on the board for the loss of six wickets (Ingram 34, Scott 23, Lc Cheminant 18, Hay 18). Among Cooks' bowlers Marsden took three for 31, F. Hart seven for 8 and Kendall three for 55. Bowling for United Alolton took two for 10. JUNIOR High School defaulted to Alarists. Kia Toa 141 (C. Matson 43 retired, Petbury 24, Broughton 17) had an eight points win over United 40 (W. MeConachie 20) and 43 second innings. Bowling for Kia Toa C. Alatson took six for 23 and three for five, Sherrin four for 10 and Foster five for 23. Optimists 195 (Al. Day 51 retired, 1 Rico 24, Sutton 21 f Holden 19) beat City 110 (J. Blackwell 36 not out, Blane 24, Weston jun. 22). Of City bowlers Blane took two for 26 and Finnic three for 33. { Bowling for Optimists Rice took five for 45.
