Patristic Shop
Last week the shop was run. by the committees of the knitting and hussifs, the Lady Galway Guild and the shop. Mrs. K. Manning was in charge and together with her willing band of helpers is to be congratulted on the result, £44 5s sd. Competition results are advertised in this issue and include: Chromium-plated tea waggon donated by Mr. Gotleib, of the Art Cabinet Coy., to the Jewish congregation part of week. Their total takings now amount to £.lll Is 2d; also a lamb donated by Mr. Jos. Batchclar and won by Colonel Saunders. This week the parcels committee, with Mrs. S. E. Northev in charge, have the shop from the 16th to the 24th. On Saturday afternoon r busy bee was in progress decorating, etc. Mrs. R. McMurray is shop committee visitor for the week. “Now if it’s a fair question, ’ow many of them there things might you smoke a day?” asked the bus driver of the chnpwho’d just lit a cigarette. “About thirty, if I can get ’em,” replied the ‘ fare,’ “but” (with a laugh) ‘‘ it won’t aways run to it. ” “ Aint no use for cigarettes, meself,” commented the bus driver, “a pipe for me, ev’ry time, stuffed with Cut Plug No. 10 fer choice.” “That’s ‘toasted’ isn’t it?” queried the “fare.” “That’s right, and you can’t get no better. ’Cause why? ’Cause there aint nothing better!” “Correct!” agreed the pasesnger, “why, I smoke toasted myself—Riverhead" Gold. Roll my own. Lot cheaper than ready-mades, and a jolly sight better!” “Yes, toasted's a fair treat,” 3aid the bus-driver. “And minjer it can’t do yer no ’arm. The toasting works the nikoteen clean out.” They were.still talking “toasted” when "the passenger hopped off w r ith “So long!” be good!” Five brands only: Cut Plug No. 10 (Bullshead), Navy Cut No. 3 (Bulldog), Cavendish, Riverhead Gold and Desert Gold.
