Italian “Sea-Tank” in Action?

LONDON, Oct. 31. A Gibraltar communique says that the Italians on Tuesday morning abortively attempted to torpedo ships in the harbour with a special device. One torpedo exploded harmlessly at the harbour entrance. Another ran ashoro on Spanish territory. The only explanation yet offered of the Italians' special device is a guess that it may be a development of the tiny torpedo-craft called the il seatank” used in 1918 to sink a cruiser in an Austrian naval base in the Ad*

riatic. Features of the “sea-tank” included a silent electric motor and barbed rotary chains which enabled it to crawl over harbour obstructions.
