SMALLER ENTRIES AND BIDDER DEMAND Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 30. Substantially smaller entries in the main sections of stock were forward at to-aay’s weekly Addington market. This, combined witn the increased demand in view of the forthcoming holiday, resulted in an improvement in prices of fat cattle, fat wethers, spring lamus and porkers. Spring lambs: 300 were penned and they sold keenly at from Hid to Is per pound. Store sheep: There was a small entry, mostly ewes and lames. B.m. ewes, with, an average percentage of lamus, sold from ills to 20s fid xor best and down to 168 6d, ail counted. No good aoggets were penned. flat sheep: About 4000 were penned, all but a few being pens of ewes, shorn. There was a good saie for wethers, with a little improvement in values, and shorn ewes were unchanged, .mere is a sharp disparity in tue price ot shorn and woolly sheep. Good shorn wetners made from 36s to 395, a lew tops to 4z«, prime medium 33s fid to 35s fid, lignt down to 255; oosl shorn ewes irom dls to 35s lOd, good medium weight 27s to 295, ligut down to 19s. Fat cattle: 420 were penned. There was a recovery for good quality of about 20s a head. Best steers made £2O to £24 7s fid for tops, good medium weights £l7 to £l9, ligat aowu to ill; nest heuers £l4 to tiu, lops to £lB 7s fid, medium £l2 to £l3 Ids; uest cows £l3 to £ls, medium ill to £l2 10s, inferior down to £8 los; best ueef irom 48s to ois per lOOibs. and medium from 44s to 46s fid, secondary down to 40*. Fat pigs: Both porkers and average weigat baconers sola well. Jforkers made from 53s fid to £o 9s fid, average price per lb. 7d to Bid; baconers £3 9a fid to £4 12s fid, average price per lb. 6Jd to 7id.
