MESSAGE TO GREECE United Press Association—Bv Electric Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, Oct. 28. Mr Churchill has sent a message to the Greek Council saying “Italy has ' found that threats and intimidation have not availed against your calm courage; therefore she has resorted to unprovoked aggression, and is seeking justification for her wanton attack in baseless accusations. “The way In which the Greek people have faced the clangers and provocations of recent months has gained the admiration of the British. These qualities will uphold them in their present hour of trial. “We will give you all the help in our power. We will fight the common foe and will share in a united victory" General Metaxas, replying to Mr. Churchill, “Your words have resounded throughout the Greek nation. We are going to march to final triumph with the same serenity and resolution which led us to oppose our perfidious adversary’s aggression. With all confidence in our great and heroic ally, we are going to base our common and certain victory on the eternal principles of moralit}', justice, and liberty established 3000 years ago on the sacred soil we are now defending.” The King of Greece, replying to his Majesty, said: “We will march side by side to the end. With God’s aid, our national forces will bring to nought the aggressor’s brutal action.'* In reference to the Italian assault upon Greece and Britain’s promise of all the aid in her power to this latest victim of the Axis Powers’ policy of premeditated aggression, the First Lord of the Admiralty, Mr A. V. Alexander, in a speech in London to-da3% said: “So far as possible within our power, every help which the Royal Navy can give Greece will be gladly rendered —it ha* already begun.”
