School Committee
GENERAL DISCUSSION AT MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Woodville School Committee was held on Tuesday, Mr. R. R. Johnston presiding over Messrs A. M. Pickering, R. Peebles, J. J. Young, E. J. Harding, Rev. B. P. Williams, Mr. L. J. Whitting (secretary) and Mr. R. L- Irwin (acting headmaster). An apology was received from Mr. T. Smith. Mr. Pry da wrote to the committee offering to service the school projector once a month. It was moved by tbe chairman that the offer be received with thanks. Mr. Irwin, in his report, stated it was necessary to renew the flagpole cord.-* - This is to be attended to. The school projector had been repaired and it was also pointed out that a drum should be obtained for school use, or the present one repaired. It was decided to proceed with this question. Attendance in the primary department totalled 260 and in the secondary department 29 during the month. Staff changes included the commencement of duty by Mr. X. Nicholas vice Mr. J. S. Mcßeau. Mr. G. Gordon went on sick leave on October 18 and Mr. Williams was relieving teacher. All teachers had attended a refresher course during the month. Regarding the home garden competition, seeds had been obtained for the root crop and garden competition and had been distributed. There were nine entries in tho former and 18 in the latter. The school had had a visit from the school nurse and various treatments had been ordered. The school desired to thank Mr. E. J. Harding for a gift of geographical magazines to the secondary department. It was decided to lend the school piano for a patriotic concert. A vote of thanks was moved to Mr. Harding for planting the school patoto patch.
