MILLION POUNDS PATRIOTIC APPEAL

Feilding Contributions CAMPAIGN DURING NOVEMBER Close on £SOO has been contributed so for towards the Feilding and'district effort on behalf of the £1,000,000 X’atriatic Fund Appeal. The campaign as far-as Feilding is concerned is expected to be well on the way next month for November is the month during -which it is expected that New Zealand will have provided the funds so urgently needed to insure that our men overseas and in camp in New Zealand have every requisite comfort. The town organisation for Feilding should be ready to commence a house-to-house collection next week and on November 15 the ladies of the Feilding Red Cross Society are to conduct a flower day. This is a, special effort on the part of the Red Cross Society to assist the cause for patriotic funds, and it is anticipated that the public will liberally support the appeal. Last Fri- j day the society conducted a shop day j for patriotic funds and this realised ( over £3O. On Sunday afternoon next the Feild- : ing Municipal Band is to be given an open-air concert at Kowhai Park. The band committee is organising this to assist the appeal. Throughout the zone patriotic area the various sub-committees are busy, and it is expected that there will be progress reports on the campaign in the near future. The aim is to endeavour to secure the zone quota of £20,000 before the end of November and every effort will be directed towards this end. Tb 6 recent Maori concert given in Feilding resulted in just short of £7O being handed over to the appeal. This was a particularly worthy effort on the patr of the Maoris of Tokorangi who worked most enthusiastically to raise funds. Details of thG latest donations are as
