EGYPT AND THE SUDAN (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Oct. 24. Several motor-transport vehicles destroyed. “Sudan.—On October 19, one of our motorised patrols in the Kassala sector attacked at close range from the rear a party of approximately 1000 men, inflicting very heavy casualties. Our casualties were nil. “On the other fronts, there is nothing to report.” An Italian communique admits the loss of the destroyer Francesco Nullo, which was blown. up by a British torpedo after having been driven ashore in the Red Sea, but says that she was scuttled. The captain, after seeing that the crew were safe, went down with the ship. The communique refers to the British attack against Italian positions eastward and southward of Siddi Barrani, and claims that the enemy were repulsed with the loss of some prisoners and equipment. British planes were admitted to have raided Massawa, where six were wounded; Bahardar, where two were killed and one wounded; Tessenic, where nine were wounded, and Gondar where one was killed and six wounded.
