HIGH SCHOOLS BOARD MEETS Present at last night’s meeting of the Palmerston North High Shools Board of Governors were Messrs. M. H. Oram (chairman), A. A. Langley, G. Tremaine and W. R. Birnie. Mr. H. Al. Scott, principal of the Technical High School, reported on sports activities and said the war efforts were being continued. The total nett sum from the daffodil day effort was £lO5 8s sd. Enlistments and Territorial camp attendances had caused a marked drop iu the evening school rolls. Terms and holidays recommended for 1941 were: First term, February 4 —May 9; second, Alav 26 —August 22; third, September B—December 11. Miss S. J. Robinson, acting-principal of the Girls’ High School, reported the present roll at 234 and the average attendance over four weeks as 237.5. There had been one or two cases of measles but there seemed no danger of the trouble spreading. The remodelling of the kitchen was practically complete and as up-to-date as any other in New Zealand.
