Thailand’s Threat to Indo-China
Received Sunday, 7.20 p.m. VICHY, Oct. 5. Groups of 20 and 40 Thailand planes dew over tho frontier of Indo-China. The Thailand frontier forces have been reinforced. These demonstrations are not regarded seriously and arc probably intended to support Thailand’s territorial claims to which France replied that she did not intend to discuss a revision of the frontier but was prepared to give Thailand access to the deep waters of the Mekong River. General Decoux decorated General Nishihara with the Order of the Dragon of Annam and the rank of Grand Officer before General Nishihara’s departure on “a pleasure trip” to southern IndoChina where the Indo Chinese and Thailand troops are massed on the border. The Japanese Foreign Office announces that an economic mission headed by Mr. Hajio Matsumiya is going to IndoChina to cement closer economic conditions. The Doraei News Agency’s Bangkok correspondent states that tho Thailand Premier Luang Bipul Songgram declared he was determined to pursue the quest for the disputed regions in IndoChina but had no intention of resorting to arms.
