Sudan’s Generous Gift for Planes
(British Official Wireless.) Received Sunday, 9.20 p.m. RUGBY, Oct. 5. The Sudan Government’s gift of £IOO,OOO for the purchase of a squadroa of fighter planes is officially stated to have been made to signify in practical form the gratitude of tho pcoplo of the Sudan for the benefits conferred by the British Government nud their confidence in British victory. Lord Beaverbrook, in a message to the Sudan Goverilment, describes it as an inspiring demonstration of tho loyalty and devotion and adds: “It rejoices our hearts in an hour when the valour and might of the nation are mobilised to overcome our enemies. We will send you? aircraft to tbb battle and our gratitude to you. When victory brings peace once more to the world we shall not forget those who helped us so nobly in the day of peril.”
