Due on Tuesday

ACTIVITIES AT DANNEVIRKE TERRITORIAL CAMP

HUMOUR UNFOUNDED

The first rush of activities at the Dannevirke A. and P. {Showgrounds is now over and those at present in camp are awaiting tho opening rush of next month.

Rumours from Hastings that the camp might be postponed because of measles are denied at the camp. Officers state tho main body of the Hawke’s Bay Regiment, comprising some 800 men, will arrive on Tuesday. There does seem to be a possibility that the camp will last more than a month, perhaps even three, to save removal to Waiouru, but nothing official is known. Imposing piles of stores are now in the produce hall, and wood and eoal are stacked outside the kitchens. Trucks still come and go with goods, but most of the advance party seem to be taking things easy.
