Gifts for Britain’s War Effort

(British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Sept. 25. Only five months after the drive began for contributions to the Red Cross Agriculture Fund, the British farmers’ own fund, the total stands at over £150,000. The fund is concerned not only with aiding the wounded but also with sending regular weekly parcels to war prisoners. Tho latter service is alone costing over £1,000,000 yearly. Lord Lloyd expressed through the Governor ot' Ceylon to the Sultan and Cabinet of the Maidive Islands the warmest appreciation of the British Government at their generous support of the Empire’s cause.

The Bahamas Red Cross Association has cabled £ISOO to the Lord Mayor’s Fund for the relief of London air-raid victims, bringing the total of its contribution to £2OOO.
