D.F.C. FOR GREYMOUTH AIRMAN
(By Telegraph—Press Association) GREYMOUTH, Sept. 25.
Advice has been received by Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Denton, of Greymouth, that the Distinguished Flying Cross has been awarded to their son, PilotOfficer F. H. Denton.
Pilot-Officer Denton was born in Greymouth 23 years ago and educated at the Greymouth Main School and the Greymouth Technical School, where he matriculated in 1935. He was one of the first trainees at Greymouth under the civil reserve scheme, and received further training at the Taieri aerodrome. He completed his New Zealand training at Wigram and left for England last December.
An account of his wartime experiences was given by Pilot-Officer Denton in a broadcast from London last week.
