Australia to Raise Fourth Division
SERVICE ABROAD United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyrigh t. MELBOURNE, Sept. 25. The Prime Minister, Mr R. G. Menzies, announced yesterday that the War Cabinet had decided to increase the strength of the A.I.F. by the formation of another division. The present objective for the strength of the A.I.F. will therefore be an army corps comprising four divisions, with corps troops. The present divisions, said Mr Men zies, were the Sixth, Seventh, anc Eighth. The new one would be the Ninth Mr Menzies said that the nucleus o< the ninth division would comprise cer tain units at present abroad, the division being brought up to strength b 3 the dispatch of existing reinforcement; for organisation Into units abroad.
The new division would not entai' immediate resumption of recruiting, bu' this would be necessary later to replace certain units taken into the nintl and to provide reinforcements.
