N.Z. WOMAN INJURED IN SMASH IN FRANCE
(Received 8. 12.45 p.m.) GENEVA. Aug. 7. Twenty-three people were injured, including the New Zealander, Mrs. J. H. Chapman, when a coach filled with League of Nations officials overturned near Grenoble. Officials of the financial and economic : actions of the League are going to Am rica for the duration of the war. Mrs Chapman’s husband is head of the statistical department, Mr Chapman’s parents reside at Falmerston North. His wife was formerly Miss G. Blacklock, of Wellington.
FEDERAL ELECTION LIKELY IN SEPTEMBER
(Received 8. 12.45 p.m.) SYDNEY, Aug. b. Parliament is almost certain to be dissolved next, week, and an election will be held before the end of September. says the Canberra correspondent of the Sydney Morning Herald. The date on which the poll will be taken has not yet been determined, but it is believed that it will be either September 21 or September 28. RETURNED UNOPPOSED (Received 8. 12.45 p.m.) LONDON, Aug 7. The Liberal candidate, Mr Harcourt Johnstone, Secretary of the Department of Overseas Trade, was returned unopposed for Middlesborough West.
