TO-NIGHT’S BOXING TOURNAMENT
To-night at 8.15 p.m. in the Pahiatua Drill Hall, two of the mighty atoms from the midget division equipped with gloves almost as big as themselves will ► tand beneath the lights in the good old squared circle listening to referee Jim Davies giving them careful instructions ending with; “Go to your corners and when the gong sounds como out fighting.'* Perhaps the older people in tho audience will b*» recalling memories of the ‘‘good old days,” when bare knuckles were used and men fought till they dropped, or of Bob Fitzsimmons, Gentleman Jim Corbett, Jack Johnson and J. L. Sullivan —those were the days. On the other hand the younger people will be trying to visualise all the white hopes that are being brought forward at. the present time to dethrone the present King of Boxing—Joe Louis, the brown bomber.
