Herds for Recording Appreciation of the service offered by the herd improvement plan has been demonstrated in striking fashion in Taranaki. For the season just commencing, 460 dairy herds will be placed under test, compared with 395 last year. It is difficult at the threshold of the season to state the number of cows whoso production and history will be recorded, but a conservative estimate of 25,800 has been made by the secretary of the Taranaki Herd Recording Association, Mr. L. W. Lovell. This will represent 4482 more cows than were handled by recording officers last year.
