(From Our Own Correspondent.) Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Nicholson, Schoolhouse, had recently as their guest, Mr. f 1 Nicholson's brother, Gunner Nicholson, who leaves for overseas with the Thim ! Echelon. , Mrs. W. Scott returned homo recently s from an enjoyable holiday spent with relatives in Masterton. Mr. and Mrs. W. Hocken, and small r daughter, Maud, have been tho guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. Burgess, Patea. Mrs. C. Elliott, accompanied by her . two small sons Mac. and Allen, is holi r daying wtih friends iu tho Wairarapa. 1 ! A very bright party took place on a : , recent afternoon, when Master Don Me- i 1 Vicar was host to a nnmber of his : school pals, at the home of his parents, ' . Mr. and Mrs. Gordon McYicar, Reids Line. Time passed swiftly’ with games f and novelty events, while an ©vent of no mean importance was the birthday . tea where pride of place was held by a I cake boasting eight candles. On Saturday afternoon members of J l the school Bible Class, under the super- j . vision of Miss La Couta, took advant- ■ [ ago of a gloriously sunny day for a pic- . nic ramble iu tho bush along the pretty . banks of the Mangaono stream, where I the novelty of cooking an outdoor meal ! was enjoyed by all. In the afternoon i the party adjourned to “ Fairfields, 7 7 . the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Smith, 1 where Mrs. Smith was hostess at after . noon tea provided for the children, fob . lowing which Mrs. Smith introduced ■ her guest, Mr. Whitehead, to the child . ron. Mr. Whitehead has been a.ssociat- . 1 ed with Bible Class activities for many . years and addressed the children upon | this subject. Games added to the on-1 joyment of the afternoon.
