OROUA FEDERATION EXECUTIVE MEETING A meeting of the Federation executive was held on Friday in the Community Centro at Feilding. Mrs. W. G. Short presided, and also present were Mesdames A. C. McCorkindale, R. H. Guthrie, G. B. Gregory, VV. Baker, C. Smith, P. Simpson, j. H. Mason, A. K. Drew (hon. treasurer) and C. M. Stanley (hon. secretary). A voluntary organisers’ school is to be held in WoodviUe shortly and Mesdames Gregory, -Short, Guthrie, McCorkindale, Simpson and Stanley signified their intention of attending. f’inance.—Atuliatiou fees: Parewanui, £1; HiniDolton, £2; VVaiata, £l. Oroua Federation donation; Makino 10s. Potatoes: x'arewanui, 5s 4d. As Mrs. Uuthno through indisposition had been unable to attend as Federation delegate at tne recently held representative council meeting in Wellington, Mrs. C. M. Stanley nad taken her place. The delegate gave a full report of t&e meeting, and was cordially thanked lor her work, whicn had been undertaken at short notice. Mrs. Gutnrie moved a vote of thanks and appreciation of the services rendered by Mrs. A. C. McCorkindale and Miss M. Grant (president Manawatu Federation). Tnese two members have just retired from tne Dominion executive alter a number of years of faithful service. They also were prominent members of the old North Wellington Federation, it was felt that they could not be allowed to retire without appreciation of their good work oemg recorded. Mrs. McCorkindale and Miss Grant are active memoers of the Oroua and Manawatu federations resx>ectiveiy. The vote was passed with acclamation. Mrs. McCorkindale gave a report of the. recent xNatioual uouncil of Women meotiug and their remits were endorsed by Oroua. War work in the institutes was fully discussed, and it cannot be too strongly stressed that we make our Women’s Institutes the vehicle for carrying on whatever activities women may be called upon for in connection with the war. A tentative date was decided upon for the half-yearly council meeting, and tho next meeting of the Federation executive is set down for September 27 0
