PERSONALS

Mrs. W. A. Lyon, Woodville, was a recent visitor to Wanganui.

Mrs. F. N. Andrews, of Palmerston North, who was a visitor to Wanganui and the guest of her sister, Mrs. R; E. Cuthbertson, at the week-end, has returned home.

Mrs. Kevin Rixtrott, of Kiri Kiri, North Auckland, whose husband is in camp, has arrived with her little daughter Helen to stay for a time with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. I). P. Buchanan, ‘ ‘ Mayfield, ’ ’ Cunninghams.

Mrs. W. 11. McLean, East Street, Feilding, has had as her guests her cousins, Mrs. Forrest Livesey, of Tauranga, and Mrs. L. Stocker, and her daughter Ann, of England, the latter two having gone to stay at Franz Josef Glacier.

Mrs. Winstone Churchill, wife of the Prime Minister of England, was married in 1908—her wedding being one of the season’s most fashionable events in London. She was Clementine Hozier, daughter of the widowed Lady Blanche Hozier, and grand-daughter of the Earl of Airlie. It was a case of love at first sight, and the match has proved an ideal one, standing strong and firm through all the changes that 30 years of married life must bring. Mutual interests, singleness of purpose and a definite regard for domestic and family life have made this possible. Mr. and Mrs. Churchill have two daughters and a son married, one daughter died in childhood, and the youngest child, Mary, is now nearly 18 years old.
