Netherlands Still At War With Germany
FIGHT GOES ON OUTSIDE OCCUPIED TERRITORY Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, May 23. In connection with tho occupation of the Netherlands by the German military forces, the following is pointed out by the Netherlands Consulate in Wellington:— Although the Netherlands defence forces have capitulated in the larger part of the Netherlands, the country remains at war with Germany. Her Majesty Queen Wilhelmina and the Netherlands Government are now temporarily established in London and naval and other lighting forces outside the occupied territory are continuing the struggle. Tho position of the Netherlands in Europe does not affect the status of the Netherlands East Indies, Surinam and Curacao, each of which, according to Netherlands constitutional law, is, like the Netherlands in Europe, a separate part of one kingdom. For this reason, the occupation of all, or a portion o the area of any of the four parts, has no legal consequence in relation to any of the others. All the Netherlands Legations and Consulates will continue to function normally everywhere, except in Germany and non-Netherlands territory occupied by Gi* ruiuiiy.
