CLEARING SALE AT ASHHURST Dalgety and Company, Limited, report having held a particularly successful sale of dairy cattle, horses, pigs, implements, etc., on account of Mr. U. A. Wycherley, on the farm, bioeria, Ashhurst., on Tuesday last, 21st instant, when there was a large attendance of buyers from the Pahiatua, Woodviile and surrounding districts. The herd of GO cows which had been tested for a number of years commanded keen attention, and bidding from the commencement of the auction was animated, values showing a definite improvement on the recent clearing sales held in this district. The top price paid tor a cow was £l7 ss, quite a number of others selling from £l4 to £lO 10s; 47 sound cows averaging the good price of £ll 12s per head. The three-quarter cows also sold remarkably well at prices ranging from £5 to £8 10s; IS dairy heifers sold from £6 10s to £lO ss; 14 Jersey weaner heifers at 3 16s. A great deal of interest was taken in the sale of pigs, the best sows selling from £7 to £9 ss.
