BRITAIN’S LOCAL DEFENCE ORGANISATION

Further details of the local defence volunteer organisation were given by the Secretary for War, Mr Anthony Eden, in the House of Commons today. Mr Eden explained that no establishment had been fixed, the numbei accepted depending upon the circumstances in each area and the men joining not to be exempt from liability to be called up for national services. Mr Eden said there would be no officers or non-commissioned officers in the organisations, neither would there be pay. The force would be supplied with arms, ammunition, and uniforms, and he stated that a countrywide oiganisation was being put into operation. BREMEN RADIO SILENT (Received 22, 12.45 p.m.) LONDON.
