Miss Inga Seifert left Feilding yes terday to spend a week in Wellington,

After a visit to Prebbleton, Canterbury, Mrs. A. Alsop has returned to Palmerston North.

Dr. and Mrs. I. R. Sherwood, of Palmerston North, were recent visitors to New Plymouth.

Miss Betty Seifert, Ranfurly Avenue, Feilding, has returned home after a brief stay in Wellington.

Mr. M. K. Luxford and her son John are back in Feilding after a fortnight s holiday spent in Wellington.

Mrs. P. Mawhinney and her daughter Loton arrived from Christchurch early this week to stay with Mrs. Mawhiuney’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. Seifert, of Feilding.

Mrs. J. P. Innes, Featherstone Street, has been visiting Rotorua in company with her daughter, Mrs. S. Colegrove, with whom she has now returned to Auckland.

Mrs. Jack Bond, of Melbourne, who has been visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Newton Broad, of Feilding, has returned home accompanied by her parents, who will spend a holiday of come weeks in Australia.

At a meeting of the Palmerston North Hospital Women’s Auxiliary yes terday the resignation of Mrs. A. Hopewell in view of her removal to Auckland, was received with regret, the secretary (Mrs. J. Parkes) being authorised to convey appreciation of her services to the auxiliary.

Mrs. A. L. Mowlem, formerly of Palmerston North and one of the early presidents of the Palmerston North W.C.T.U., attended the banquet (organised by the W.C.T.U. last evening. During her visit to the city she has been the guest of Mrs. T. R. Hodder, Alan Street, and returns to Wellington to-day.

News has been received of the safe arrival in Egypt, after a journey by air, of Mrs. G. A. D. Spence, of Parnell, Auckland, whoso husband is the Presbyterian chaplain now with tho New Zealand forces in Egypt. Mrs. Spence is living at Maadi, and writes that she has been arranging to take 12 New Zealand soldiers at a time to tea in Cairo, and is thus getting to know them. ‘ ‘ Socks seem to be their greatest need so far as handwork is concerned," Mrs. Spence says. “The last parcels got in duty free, which makes it worth while sending almost anything to eat, as well as cigarettes and magazines.’’ To those who want to knit for tho soldier Mrs. Spence advises the knitting of socks, and says that with the summer coming on the men cannot nave too many.

Kay Stammers, the tennis star, now Mrs. Michael Menzies, and Jean Nico.ll, the 18-year-old player who is expected by some authorities to become a second Suzanne Lenglen, are to tour England during the English summer, playing exhibition tennis to raise funds for the Red Cross Society. Uufortunately, several stars are in America, and others are prevented by war work from taking part in money-making tournaments. Betty Nuthall, with the help of Valerie Scott, is running a club for movie stars in California. Mary Hardwick and Nina Brown, who went to the United States for the Wightman Cup matches, are playing in tournaments in Florida, and Bunny Austin is lecturing on moral rearmament in America. Most of tho men players are in tho Royal Air Force. Flying-Officer Cam Malfroy, the New Zealand Davis Cup player, was one of the four officers released last month to play for the Queen’s Club charity match.
