NEW BASKETBALL CLUB

Weodvifie and Ngawapurua Unite TO PLAY IK BOSH SENIOR COMPETITION As the result of a meeting of memhere of the Woodville Old Girls* and j Ngawapurua Basketball Clubs held at! Mr. L. Bussell’s shop on Tuesday evening, it was resolved that tho two clubs' amalgamate and take part in the Bush senior, basketball competition during the forthcoming year. The new team will play under the name “ United” and its colours will be grey and white. Mrs. L. Bussell occupied the chair at tho meeting and the election of officers for tne new cluo resulted as follows: President, Mrs. JL. Bussell; vice-presi-dent?, Messrs K. C. Batchelor and Squires, Mesdames Knapp, Bunace, McNeil; treasurer, Miss L. cquires; secretary, Miss N. ciquires; cluo captain, Mias N. Squires; vicc-captain, Miss M. Lovell; selector, Miss K. Beeuies. A friendly tournament will De held ut Pahiatua this week-end and meiuoers of the United Cluo will take part. It was announced that the Bush competition will not commence until May 27 and this year all games will be played at Pahiatua. It was also announced that, to wind up the affairs of the last season, the Ngawapurua members would conduct a danco at Ngawapurua next montn, the proceeds of which would be used to foster the new club.
