U.S. Politics and War Attitude
PRESIDENTIAL ASPIRANT’S INSINUATIONS United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received Sunday, 10.20 p.m. WARM SPRINGS (Georgia), April 21. President Roosevelt, in a national broadcast, charged the Republicans with seeking to frighten the country by telling the people that the Administration was deliberately thrusting the United States into war. “Don't believe it. Your Government is keeping a cool head and a steady hand. We are keeping out of wars in Europe and Asia," Mr. Roosevelt said. He attacked the isolationists with obvious reference to Mr. Thomas Dewey. “I do not subscribe to the preachment of the Republican aspirant for the Presidency, who in effect ea.ys the United States should do nothing to create a more secure order and world peace when the time comes."
