Supply of Medical Comforts for Forces
GOOD WORK OF LOCAL SOCIETIES Showing coinmendablo enterprise, the sewing divisions of tne Red Cross Society and the Order of St. John have been working for somo time in the preparation and dispatch, of medical comforts for the forces. Early in December an urgent request was received from tho Director-General of Medical Services, Army Department, for a supply of comforts for the First Echelon. A case containing over 200 articles was forwarded within 10 days of tho receipt of tho requisition. With tho assistance of many persons who are not members of the societies mentioned, a large number of knitted articles, bandages, etc., has been prepared in readiness for dispatch with the Second and subsequent Echelons. Many requests for knitting wool are being received and the Red Cross room in Broadway is a scene of activity when tho finished articles are being sorted for dispatch. Members of the societies are grateful to the pupils of the Technical School for the gift of two bandage rollers -which were made by the boys and to Milson Women’s Institute, Takaro Ladies’ Guild and other organisations who are co-operating.
