Second Echelon Men for Training
PALMERSTON NORTH LIST Thirty-four men from Palmerston North and district leave for camp at 3.16 p.iu. to-day, these being the last from Area 6b (.encompassing this district) who will join the second echelon of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force. Future recruits will join the third echelon. The names of those leaving for camp this afternoon are as follow: —Messrs. J. L. Alexander, F. E. Brooks, J. H. Burrow, C. W. K. Cameron, A. E. Eades, L. G. Follas, R. Grant, G. Gregory, J. G. Lash, C. McCullough, A. McKinley, F. Meller, R. Norris, C. V. Parson, A. R. Phipps, M. Richards, A. O. Ronberg, G. M. Symcs, D. W. Skinner, L. J. H. Watt, W. B. Honey, J. A. Horsfall, R. H. Berry, L. A. F. Burns, C A. Hardisty, A. Learmonth, S. L. Lord, W. E. Lutze', J. Mahar, A. G. Nesbitt, A. A. Stanley, M. J. E. Turner, P. A. Holdaway and it. J. H. Tish.
There have now been a total of 781 enlistments mad<s at Palmerston North for overseas service, the latest names being those of Messrs. T. G. McGrath, J. Farrington und D. Bell. For home defence the following have registered: Messrs. W. E. C. Ryder, A. R. W. Dewar and S. T. Bristow.
On Monday a medical board will sit at the Empire Hall and between 40 and 50 recruits will come forward for examination. If passed as lit they will enter the third echelon.
The following are the latest enlistments for the Forestry Company at the Palmerston North office of the State Forestry Department, tho total now being 84: Messrs. J. V. Car ran (Tauinarunui), A. Macdonald (National Park), O. Edney (Kimbolton), J. Higgett (Wanganui), E. O. Wilson (Whakarara, Hastings), J. F. Mortensen (Norsewood), A. A. Bayne (Wanganui) and C. A. J. Cockburn (Kairanga).
