Russians at Border of Norway

COSTLY VICTORY IN NORTH LONDON, Dec. 14. Soviet troops to-day reached the Norwegian frontier in the extreme north when they occupied the blazing town of Salraijarvi, a nickel-mining centre. The Norwegians have mined the frontier. The Finns, in retreating, set lire to all tho shelter, tho flames lighting up the black-panoplied sky. The snow was coloured crimson by tho heavy Russian losses. The biggest battle of the war continues at Salla, which is one of the two parallels of the thrust towards Toraio, in tho extreme north of the Gulf ot Bothnia. The Russians are reported to bo launching a third thrust towards Kuusamo, from where a road leads to Oulou (Uleaborg), on the Gulf of Bothnia some miles south of Tornio. A Finnish communique reports a further Russian bombardment of the Gulf of Finland and a Finnish advance from Tolvajarvi.
