Raider May Go to Sea Again

BUT NOT FOR LONG LONDON, Dec. 14. Lord Chatficld, Minister for the Co-ordination of Defence, replying In the House of Lords to Lord Strabolgi, Chief Opposition Whip, who alleged that the Admiralty was withholding information, said: “I have no doubt that the Graf Spee will soon go to sea again—for a short time. “We have been hunting for the Graf Jpes for some time. “You can be assured that any ship that got into touch with the German was not going to lose her, even if it meant going to the bottom. That is the spirit animating the Navy. “I am not able at present to give details of the torpedoed German cruiser.” Lord Chatfield added that the international problem regarding the Gral Spee was at present a matter under active consideration between England and Uruquay. Lord Strabolgi said that the public should be told the full, magnificent story about the Graf Spee. It was a ballistic miracle for a ship of the Graf Spee’s armament to be attacked successfully by light cruisers. The encounter would make history as an epic. The world should know the technical facts.
