Popular Headmaster
PRESENTATIONS FROM SCHOOL AND TEACHERS Mr. L. J. Plank, headmaster of College Street School, Palmerston North, who is retiring from the service, was the recipient yesterday of an oak writing desk, suitably inscribed, a gift of tho scholars. Tho presentation was made by the prefects Maureen Tunnicliffe und John Moxon, Mr. Plank acknowledging the good wishes ,and gift. Mrs. Plank was present and was the recipient of a bouquet at the hands of Audrey Clausen. Later he was met by members of the school staff aud presented with a china lea set, Mr. R. Warwick, first assistant, expressing tho high esteem in which Mr. Plank had been held and returning thanks for many considerations extended to them. Recently Mr. Plank was tendered a farewell by the men teachers in Palmerston North an ddistrict schools in Collinson and Cunninghame’s tearooms and presented with an electric radiotor. Mr. E. Bary, president of the Headmaster’s Association, paid tribute to the services Mr. Plank had rendered education, while similar compliments were paid by Mr. E. Crosbie, of the Wanganui Education Board, aud others. Among those present were retired schoolmasters and other board inspectors.
