YEAR IN REVIEW The annual report of the Palmerston North Horticultural Society records that the year has been a successful one. The membership is now close on 300 which shows greater interest in the work of the society. Increased membership encourages the committee in its work of interesting citizens in the beautification of their surroundings. Pour shows were held during the year, and all were well supported by exhibitors and the public. Owing to many adverse circumstances, entries were not so numerous, but exhibits were of a high standard. The society had the privilege of staging the first national dahlia show in New Zealand, exhibitors were preseqt from a wide area, and a fine display was made. The committee is again indebted to those indies and gentlemen and business firms Who generously donate special prizes.

Messrs. A. J. Sbailer and S. Shailcr are to bo congratulated on the planning out of the staging for each show-. New trophies have been donated by Messrs. G. Larsen, C. Lennox and J. Galland; and Mrs. F. J. Nathan, to whom the society extends its thanks. New material—tables, vases, etc.— was secured during the year. To Mr. W.
