Pigs, Poultry and Produce
The Dominion Auctioneering Co., Ltd., Palmerston North, report receiving a full yarding of pigs at their usual weekly sale held on Thursday. Competition was very keen for all classes, heavy porkers jin particular commanding keen competition, resulting in an improvement on last week’s rates. Poultry was in very heavy supply and with the exception of turkeys prices were a little easier. Vegetables were in exceptionally heavy supply, a total clearance being made at the following rates:—
Pigs: Best weaners, 20s to 275; medium weaners, 15s 6d to 19s; small and backward, 10s to 12s; slips, 25s to 30s; heavy stores, 30s to 38s; light stores, 25s to 295; heavy porkers, £2 13s, £2 15s, £3 to £3 Is; medium porkers, 45s to 50s; light porkers, 39s to 445. Poultry: Best W.L. hens, 5s to 6s per pair; heavy hens, Cs to 7s per pair; light hens, 4s to 5s per pair; heavy cockerels, 7s to 8s 6d; medium cockerels, 4s to 5s per pair; small, Is to 2s per pair; young ducks, 8s to 9s fid per pair; old ducks, 3s to Cs per pair; turkey gobblers, 18s fid each; turkey hens, 7s fid to 9s fid each; geese, 4s fid to 6s each; pullets, 4s 9d to 5s 6d each.
