MELSON The Mtfson. ‘Women’s Institute held the annual flower show on Wednesday afternoon when there was a beautiful display of roses and cut blooms, despite the dry weather prevailing. The decorative exhibits attracted as much attention as did the individual blooms, the handcrafts and artcrafts sections also being very attractive. Mrs. H. V. Caverhill of Kongotea (in the absence of Miss Grant) opened the show and congratulated the members on the excellent quality and the number of entries. Mrs. W. A. Short also spoke and expressed her pleasuro at the good work of the members, special mention being made of the numeber of entries of wool mops. Mrs. Murphy (president) thanked all visiting Institutes for attending and helping to make the show a success. She also expressed thanks to all who had assisted, special thanks being due to Mrs. McKenzie (convener of the garden circle) and Mrs. Graham (secretary of the flower show).
