The Times, in a leader, says the British Government is putting its hand in its pocket on behalf of New Zea land to such an extent that it cannot be reproached for lack of generosity. Tbe Dominion, it sa}'s, must prove her worthiness if future assistance is to be more easily forthcoming. There is no desire to interfere with principles in New Zealand, but she must recognise that she cannot again saddle Britain, with burdens of her own extravagances, and must order her affairs accordingly.
