I From Our Own Correspondent. Farewell Evening On Tuesday’ evening of last week there was a large gathering of residents to bid farewell to Aliss AI. Guy. Although wintry conditions prevailed outside, a cheery . log fire burning in the supper-room and a merry droWd of dancers in the hail all helped to make the evening a pleasant one. Air. T. Marshall carried out the duties of AI.C. Songs were tendered by Air. C. Whiteman. Following supper Air. It. Hamilton voiced pleasure at being able to recognise in a small way the work done . by Miss Guy in this district. At the same , time it was indeed sad that they should have to bid her “au revoir.” In connection with church work, institute work and . help given with many local school con certs, Aliss Guy had worked untiringly, 'and would be greatly missed from the ’.district. Mr. Hamilton also expressed regret that Air. Guy was not sufficiently well to be able to attend the gathering, but asked Aliss Guy to accept a travelling rug for her father with the wish that he would soon be restored to health again and to wish him every happiness In his new home. Aliss Guy was asked to accept | a toilet set and crystal scent spray from ’ the residents of tho district. Airs. A. * Marshall, president or the a tan way ■ Women’s Institute, then asked Alyrtle to ' accept a crystal powder bowl from the - institute members, hoping that she wouic. • at all times remember the many ha-'py 1 meetings with which she had been associ- -* ated and had worked so hard towards > their success. Aliss Guy feelingly replied • and expressed pleasure at being able to • help in any small way the interests of the - district. She would ever remember her ■ associations with Stanway and that when- '• ever she sang “Aly Ain Folk” it would i- to of the Stanway folks she would b. - thinking.
