Trousers for Women
At the beginning of this year two or three London dress houses made a featuro of “trousers for women” in their season displays. In itself this was not. of course, new, but the styles and par tieularly the outstanding woollen mater ials were, ana London, and then England, took up the idea, not simply as a fashion, but as something likely to outlast many fashion seasons. A London newspaper writer with a leaning towards facts as well as fashions has been through the files of leading English newspapers for three months and has estimated that something like one hundred columns of space have been given to tho new idea—that is about I*4 full pages of London and city dailies, busy with national and international news. So apparently there is something to “trousers for women.” The International Wool Secretariat has brought out a special booklet of styles and materials. There seems to be no doub* that “trousers for women’.’ will spread from England to the Continent and to America, with profit to New Zealand farmers. And the fashion will no doubt reach New Zealand, too, in the spring.
