Final Night of “The Distaff Side”
MISS MAVIS MORTLAND AND CAST ACCLAIMED
Concluding n successful three-night season Repertory players ou Tuesday night presented a uniformly good performance of * ‘The Distaff Side” to a most appreciative audience filling the Empire Hall. At the final curtain there were scenes of great enthusiasm and tributes of flowers and other gifts were showered upon members of the cast and producer. Expressing appreciation on behalf of the society of the good show the members of the cast had put over, Mr. M. H. Oram (president) also offered warm congratulations to Miss Mavis Mortland on the high standard of production attained.
Offstage there was a pleasing incident when a book of plays and a bouquet were presented to Miss Mortland by Mr. N. M. Nash, on behalf of the cast. Ho thanked Miss Mortland for her invaluable help and said that the cast had thoroughly enjoyed working under her direction. It also gave them all great pleasuro to welcome her back to Palmerston North and to active membership of tho society.
