“Floradora” Replaces the “Maid of the Mountains”

OPERATIC PRODUCTION At a meeting of the committee of the Palmerston North Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society held last week it was decided to postpone the staging of “The Maid of The Mountains' ' in November, and if permission is forthcoming to produco the well known musical comedy “Floradora" instead. This is a very tuneful opera with plenty of scope for both principals and chorus and although it lias been produced by the society before, the committee feels confident that with the loyal co-opera-tion of tho members and the public in general a very uccessful season will bo the result. The production will bo in the capable hands of Mr. Stan Lawson, producer, Miss Rosetta Powell, ballet mistress, and Mr. C. L. Mowlem, musical director, a combination which helped in no small

way towards the success of last year’s production, “Tho Belle of New York." All arrangements have been made for the first rehearsal which will take place as soon as the necessary permission arrives from the authorities controlling the royalties, notice of which will be given in this paper in the near future.
