Refused to Leave Hotel
MAN ON SOCIAL SECURITY FINED Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, July 21. “I ou sliouiu. oe ashamed of yourself j knocking round hotels when you are on social security. That is all I have got to say to you,’’ said the Magistrate, Mr. W. F. Stilwell, S.M., to Thomas Morgan, who pleaded guilty to a charge of refusing to leave licensed premises when requested to do so. The police indicated that the barman refused to serve Morgan on account of his age and also the fact that he was showing signs of intoxication. The manager also asked him to leave, but he adopted a threatening attitude and refused, with the result that a constable was called. He was eventually ejected, but later tried to come back. Morgan said he put down tho money for drink and was not given his change back. He had told the constable he was waiting for his change. Ho was lined £1 and, in asking for time to pay, said ho was on social security.
