Feilding Ladies’ Bowling Club
THE YEAR IN REVIEW In xiresenting the annual report of the Feilding Ladies’ Bowling Club at the annual meeting held in the pavilion on Wednesday, the president (Airs. A. ' Williamson) congratulated the club on a successful and enjoyable year. The report continued: “Our membership at J the close of the season was 16 playing ’ members and five honorary members. ] “The opening day, held on November {l6, was largely attended, visitors being 1 present from the Hokowhitu Ladies’ Bowling Club, together with the Alayor (Air. T. L. Seddon), who performed the opening ceremony. Airs. Seddon, senr., ! was also present. “Inter-club games played durj ing the season with the Castlecliff , ladies and the Hokowhitu ladies, these 1 games being of great benefit to members of the club. In December the club
joined the croquet ladies at a Christmas party and a most enjoyable afternoon was spent. This year the ladies undertook the summer evening euchre tourneys and the sum of £l2 5s 9d was realised. Regret was expressed that more bowling ladies had not attended these evenings. The sum of £25 has been donated to the Feilding Bowling Club (men’s) for which a very appreciative letter has been received.
“I have to thank the members of the committee for their co-operation at all times, and special thanks to the secretary, Airs. G. Wilkinson, who has worked unceasingly for the benefit of the club, also to the men’s club, especially Air. Duncan for tho assistance so willingly given, and to tho press for their help at all times. “In closing, may 1 say 1 hope to see the 1939-40 season with more members and a greater success than the year that has closed.”
The annual meeting was presided over by Airs. A. Williamson. The annual report and balance-sheet were presented and adopted. The following were elected officers f-or the ensuing year:—President, Mrs. A. Williamson; vice-president. Airs. E. Scott; secretary, Airs. G. Wilkinson; committee, Ales* dames' Laing, Green, AJpe, Cantwell, Knight and Sporle. Presentations were made to the secretary, Airs. G. Wilkinson, and Airs. W. 11. Duncan by Airs. A. Williamson in appreciation of their services to the club.
An enjoyable afternoon was brought to a close by the dispensing of afternoon tea.
