Cheque Endorsements That Were Forged
FACTORY MANAGER IN COURT When Charles Edward Henry Gallon, aged 53, manager of the Riverbank Dairy Factory, appeared in tlie Palmerston North Supreme Court yesterday for sentence on three charges of forging cheque endorsements, the Hon. Air. Justice Blair entered a conviction and ordered him to pay tho costs of tlic prosecution, £5. Air. Ongley, for prisoner, said tho probation officer recommended probation. The money involved, small amounts, had been repaid and in two instances before the prosecution was started.
His Honour said the circumstances did not call for the application of the Probation Act. Gallon was 53 years of age and no doubt had had a lot of worry over the case. He thought justice wolud be met by a conviction aud ordering the payments of the costs of the prosecution.
