From Our Own Correspondent. The attendance at the fortnightly euchre held in aid of the hall funds was not as large as usual. Mesdames G. Burmiester and Richardson tied for the ladies' prize, Mrs. Richardson winning the play-off. Mr. C. Bush was first prize winner amongst the men, with Messrs. G. Davey and K. Cooper equal second. Mrs. L. Clark was the winner of a competition. The annual meeting of the Kairanga ladies’ school committee was held during the week. Election of officers for the forthcoming year resulted: President, Mrs. Divehall; vice-president, Mrs. Davey; (secretary, Mrs. F. Cummins. A number of functions will be staged during the 'year with Uie object of raising funds for I school baths. It is hoped the children’s fancy dress ball will be held some time in August. At the monthlj' meeting of the men’s school committee there were present Messrs. E. Kilgour (chairman), O. Collie, G. Collis, G. Davey, A. Divehall and the headmasier (Mr. Cummins), whose report was as follows: Roil number 50, but owing to the prevalence of influenza the average was only 42. Three new pupils were enrolled. The school was also visited by Hr. Lange, instructor in agriculture The purchase of school requirements was left in the hands of Mr. Cummins. Notice was received from the Minister of Edu cation approving a grant for the recon ditioning of the school.
