MAGISTRATE' S COURT PROCEEDINGS
Mr. H. P. Lawry, S.M., was ou the Bonck at the sitting of the Magistrate’s Court in Palmerston North yosterday. A. J. Dickie was fined 10s for riding at night an unlightcd bicycle and a similar amount for not having a white mudguard. Costs were 10s in each case. A. W. H. Alsop admitted driving a car in Chclwood Street, Palmerston North, without due care and attention. Thero was a collision with a cyclist.— Fined £1 with 10s costs.
A. W. Hurst admitted a charge of speeding at Karere when driving a truck which the regulations limited" to 25 m.p.h. He was checked at 38 m.p.h. —Fined £2 with 10s costs. For having his rear vision mirror obscured, defendant was convicted and ordered to pay costs 10s. J. B. Nash was convicted and order ed to pay costs 10s for riding a bicycle at night without a light.
A fine of £2 with 10s costs was imposed on Harry Clarke for supplying liquor after hours, while Annie Clarke was fined £2 with 10s costs for selling after hours.
Two side-show hands, Albert Thomas Darken, aged 21, and Charles William Kenneth Cameron, aged 25, admitted the theft of clothing and food at Patea, Hawera and Wanganui and also converting a bicycle found at Tariki, to their own use. They were convicted and discharged, the Magistrate stating that they were already serving four months in gaol—for theft at Woodvillc and converting a car at Wanganui. • Walter Harrison, aged 20, who had been arrested with Darken and Cameron, was admitted to probation for 32 months on charges of theft at Woodville, converting a car at Wanganui ana theft of a hat and food at Wanganui.
