UNSECURED CREDITORS £34,893

Per Press Association.

INVERCARGILL, July 10.

At a meeting of the creditors of Charles Stephen Longuet, aged 78, a solicitor, unsecured creditors were shown as £34,893 and secured as £650. Assets were £19,000, leaving a deficiency of £16,243. Unsecured creditors numbered 64, and the amounts ranged from £l7 to £2OOO.

His affairs were described by the Official Assignee as very complicated, and the meeting was adjourned to July 24 to enable the assignee to get the assistance of a qualified accountant and allow the creditors an opportunity of giving proof of claims. The local Law Society is endeavouring to have the rules governing the Fidelity Guarantee Fund relaxed to include claims prior to January 1, 1930, when the fund came into operation. The president (Mr. T. P. Pryde) said he knew somo creditors were suffering hardship, but he urged them not to take precipitate action.
